Popular organizations are
organizations that are open to public membership, and are essentially for
public interest. Such organizations usually have large members and their number
makes them influential both in the society and in government. Popular

are lots of factors which necessitate the formation of popular
organisations.some of them include:
a. Through Ethnic Groups:
some organisations like political parties and pressure groups emanated
from ethnic groups. E.g. the Northern People's Congress (NPC)
metamorphosed from the northerns ethnic group known as Jam'iyyar Mutanen
Arewa. That party was dominated by people with the same ethnicity. Also,
the Odua People Congress (OPC) can be linked to the ethnic groups of the
Yoruba on its formation
b. Through ideology:
Some political parties and pressure groups are formed based on different
political ideologies or beliefs. This kind of parties or pressure groups
is called ideological parties. E.g. Communist parties of
Russia, Chinese socialist party etc.
c. Through Constitution:
In some countries, it is the constitution that determines the kind of party or
group to exist and also instructs how such parties will be run. Some countries
constitution allows for zero party system, one party system etc.
